Koh Bulon

Satun

Plan a slower island stay on Koh Bulon, with beach walks, local communities and carefully chosen snorkeling trips. Learn what to check before booking boats and accommodation.

Koh Bulon is worth planning around the time you want to spend on the island, rather than a long checklist of stops. Leave room for beach walks, a quiet afternoon and a snorkeling excursion chosen for your experience level.

Choose the right island

The Bulon archipelago belongs to the Mu Ko Phetra National Park area in Satun. Koh Bulon Le is the starting point for researching an overnight stay, while Koh Bulon Don has its own community context. Confirm the exact island, accommodation name and landing arrangement before booking a boat. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports places the archipelago approximately 22 kilometres from Pak Bara, but that distance is not a guaranteed crossing time. Official destination information

A relaxed stay

Use your arrival day to settle in and ask your host where conditions are suitable for swimming. When walking along the shore, respect private property and turn back if the tide cuts off your route. Ask permission before photographing residents, especially children. For a two-night visit, consider one flexible activity day between arrival and departure rather than scheduling a boat excursion immediately before your return connection.

Choose snorkeling carefully

Underwater footage around Bulon, including Kong Hin Khao, can be inspiring, but footage made by experienced freedivers does not describe what every visitor can safely do. Ask whether an excursion is snorkeling, scuba diving or freediving, and discuss currents, supervision and options for non-swimmers. Check the operator's alternative arrangements if conditions change. Never stand on coral, handle marine animals or push beyond your comfort level to keep up with a group.

Before booking

Ask accommodation providers about meals, electricity, water, internet and luggage transfers for your actual travel dates. Discuss allergies in advance, carry essential medication and keep offline copies of boat and room confirmations. Check both park announcements and boat operations: an available room does not mean every marine activity is running. Leave a buffer before flights or onward road journeys.

Pack light, protect documents and electronics from water, and bring reusable drinking containers. Remove your litter and support local services respectfully. Send Jolly Travel your dates, passenger count and exact island or accommodation name so available transport can be checked without confusing one Bulon island with another. This is a planning guide, not a promise of fixed boat times or year-round access.
